Bee keeping as an investment opportunity for youth and women
Just after one year of training under the SSF pilot bee keeping project, Wasswa is convinced that his future is very bright because in his 1st harvest he was able to earn UGX. 550,000/= from sell of honey, He is currently economically empowered and a very busy man where local bee keepers have already started seeking for his services.
He is very much grateful for Salama SHIELD Foundation (SSF) and its partners GIZ under the CUSP II co-financed by the European Union and Germany Government for economically empowering youth and women through the SSF pilot bee keeping project.

Banking the Un-bankable
Financial inclusion is still an illusion for many peasant families in Lyantonde district. Their (peasant families) reasons for not having bank accounts vary. Some are too poor to own one and others lack financial literacy to open one. These people are known as the un-banked. By definition, the un-banked are individuals that have no bank accounts. Their income and expense streams are often inconsistent and they don’t always follow a structured budget.
Without savings and bank accounts, access to financial services such as loans is challenging.
